The Lord Jesus said, “Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Mat 4:17). In the face of the current disaster, we can’t help but think of the Nineveh’s story recorded in the Bible. Because the Ninevites’ wickedness had come before God’s gaze, God decided to destroy this city. But before that, God sent the prophet Jonah to convey His words to the Ninevites: “Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.” (Jon 3:4). All of the people of Nineveh, from the king to the commoners, donned sackcloth and ashes, confessing their sins and repenting to God; they left their respective evil ways behind and abandoned the violence in their hands. Therefore, God retracted His wrath, showed mercy to them, and stopped destroying Nineveh with the disaster.

The present people are also corrupted and evil to the extreme. Even believers in the Lord often lie, cheat, envy and hate others, and fail to practice the word of the Lord; when unsatisfactory things happen, we even will blame God; etc. We cannot extricate ourselves from living in sinning and confessing. Now various disasters are occurring one by one. If we want to be saved by God, we must truly repent to God like the Ninevites. But how can we achieve true repentance to attain God’s salvation? The sketch “Have You Truly Repented” will tell us what true repentance is.
