Verse 1
When the king of Nineveh heard
that Jehovah God would destroy them,
he rose up from his throne, took off his robe,
put on sackcloth and sat in ashes,
said man and beast would wear them too,
no man could taste anything,
but would earnestly implore God.

Pre-chorus 1
The king proclaimed that each one
would turn from evil ways,
forsake the violence in their hands.

Chorus
The king of Nineveh showed great repentance,
accomplishing what a ruler should.
His actions were hard for kings to achieve,
unheard of in human history.
They’re worthy of commemoration, to be imitated by mankind.

Verse 2
Since the dawn of man,
all kings have led their subjects to resist and oppose God.

None had led them to ask God
to save them from their wicked ways,
to pardon them, avoiding punishment.
But the king of Nineveh led his subjects to God,
leaving their violence and evil ways.

Pre-chorus 2
He also gave up his throne,
so God turned back His wrath,
all could live away from destruction.

Chorus
The king of Nineveh showed great repentance,
accomplishing what a ruler should.
His actions were hard for kings to achieve,
unheard of in human history.
They’re worthy of commemoration, to be imitated by mankind.

Bridge
What a miracle in history!
The king’s way will be noted as a way man should confess and repent before God.

Chorus
The king of Nineveh showed great repentance,
accomplishing what a ruler should.
His actions were hard for kings to achieve,
unheard of in human history.
They’re worthy of commemoration, to be imitated by mankind.

Now disasters are becoming more and more serious. Only if we truly repent to God can we gain God’s guidance during disasters so that we can have a way forward and be raptured into the heavenly Kingdom. Many believers in the Lord have such confusions: We often confess our sins and repent to the Lord in tears, but we still live in a cycle of sinning and confessing, unable to extricate ourselves. Is this true repentance? Can we who often sin and do not truly repent be qualified to enter the Kingdom of heaven? Here we select Bible verses about repentance and related content to help brothers and sisters who are truly waiting for the Lord’s return find the way to escape sin, achieve true repentance, and enter the Kingdom of heaven.
